Análisis microscópico de membranas no reabsorbibles de politetrafluoeretileno expandido de alta densidad (d-ptfe) expuestas al medio oral luego de procedimientos de aumento de reborde alveolar

Resumen
Objetivo: Caracterizar histomorfológicamente mediante microscopía electrónica de barrido la presencia de microorganismos en la superficie interna de las membranas de politetrafluoretileno de alta densidad (d-PTFE) que han estado expuestas In Vivo al medio oral. Materiales y métodos: Se realizaron 10 procedimientos quirúrgicos en 8 pacientes, obteniendo 10 muestras que fueron procesadas al momento del retiro de la membrana, para ser analizadas por medio de microscopia electrónica de barrido (MEB). Las membranas fueron retiradas 4 semanas luego de estar expuestas intencionalmente al medio oral. Resultados: En el análisis microscópico se encontraron estructuras compatibles con microorganismos tipo cocos y bacilos en la superficie interna de las membranas. La gran mayoría de las muestras presentaron además estructuras similares a formaciones fibrilares. Conclusiones: De las 10 muestras de membranas no reabsorbibles de politetrafluoretileno de alta densidad (d-PTFE) analizadas en su parte interna, 4 presentaron estructuras compatibles con microorganismos aislados sin formar colonias organizadas.

Objective: Histomorphologically characterized by scanning electron microscopy the presence of microorganisms on the inner surface of the membranes of high density polytetrafluoroethylene (d-PTFE) have been exposed in Vivo to the oral environment. Materials and methods: 10 surgical procedures were performed on 8 patients to obtained 10 samples that were processed after the removable to be analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The samples were removed 4 weeks after being intentionally exposed to the oral environment. Results: On the microscopy analysis, structures compatible with microorganisms type cocci and bacilli were found on the inner surface of the membranes. The majority of the samples also presented structures similar to fibrillar formations. Conclusions: Of the 10 non resorbable high density polytetrafluoroethylene membranes (d-PTFE) analyzed on the inside surface, 4 showed structures compatible with isolated microorganisms without organized colony formations.
