Abstract: This work offers an analysis of the absence of social capital of women heads of household in the Arabia neighborhood, locality 19 Ciudad Bolivar in Bogotá. The description is based on data collected in surveys, interviews and visits to the community, showing many problems faced by each of these women heads of households, such as poverty, lack of access to education both for themselves and for their children, the high rate of unemployment. As an additional factor increasing their vulnerability, we find their mistrust of their environment and weakness of the social tissue that prevents them from undertaking actions to solve their community’s problems.
