Abstract. After the financial crisis unleashed in 2008/09, the number of research trying to explain the inequality and distribution as one of the main causes of the crisis has grown considerably. Given the evident gap between the incomes of workers and capitalists, coupled with the democratization of credit and financial deregulation and liberalization, lower income households found an incentive to access credit to compensate for the difference. Situation through the relationship between the factors that determine the functional income distribution (Kalecki, 1956) and the loss of the labour share in GDP, may explain the cause of periods of financial instability (Minsky, 1992). Therefore, based on the Post-Keynesian theoretical framework and using the impulse-response method VAR function, the objective of this research is to identify the impact of functional income distribution in financial instability in Colombia during the 1990-2010.
