Abstract. Acupunctural anesthesia is a technique of Chinese medicine created to replace anesthetic drugs, and thus avoid the adverse effects that these could produce to the health of patients, in addition to a great benefit for patients who had serious complications of Health and could not be exposed to these but necessarily required surgical intervention. This technique was initially developed by means of a vigorous manual stimulation of the acupuncture needle on many acupuncture points, thus obtaining an important analgesic effect, but later the electroacupuncture was in charge of this function reducing the amount of points used. The objective of this literature review is to make known the importance of acupuncture anesthesia and its adequate utilization.
