Abstract: The teaching of the natural sciences has a greater possibility of developing practical activities that favor learning through experience. In the “Gimnasio los Arrayanes”, although there are practical activities, it was necessary to update and design new ones. The objective of this work was to update and design laboratory practices for the third grade, starting with the elaboration of guides constructed in accordance with the standards of competencies established by the Ministry of National Education. Methodologically, a qualitative study was developed under the framework of educational action research. Four stages were established: 1. review of study modules, 2. design of work guides, 3. application and development of guides, and 4. Evaluation through web surveys by students and parents. The analysis of the results shows difficulties in the students to associate theoretical concepts based on the practices carried out, the need to teach them to manage the time in the classroom and the low participation of the parents in the academic processes of the students.Keywords
