Resumen
En las últimas décadas, a nivel internacional se ha llevado a cabo una reducción de las tarifas arancelarias con el fin de incentivar el comercio. A la par, las barreras no arancelarias han tomado relevancia, buscando solucionar fallas de mercado o prevenir externalidades negativas. No obstante, dichas medidas generan efectos adversos de corto plazo sobre los flujos de comercio internacional debido al sobrecosto que se le impone a las firmas. En este documento se estudia el impacto de la imposición de barreras no arancelarias por parte de los socios comerciales de Colombia, sobre la actividad exportadora colombiana a nivel de empresa, encontrando efectos heterogéneos por tamaño de la firma.
Abstract: In the last decades, international tariff rates have been reduced in order to promote trade. Meanwhile, non-tariff barriers have become relevant, seeking to solve market failures or prevent negative externalities. However, these measures generate short-term adverse effects on international trade flows due to higher costs imposed on firms. This document studies the impact of the imposition of non-tariff barriers by the trading partners of Colombia, on the Colombian export activity by company level, finding heterogeneous effects by the size of the firm.
