Abstract: In this work, a diagnosis is made about the generation and existence of radioactive waste in the country, identifying the relevant radionuclides, the radioactive activities and considering the most relevant parameters. Based on this diagnosis, the gaps between the "current situation" and the "ought be" are established in the radioactive waste management operations in the country, which implies the full implementation of the regulations. Subsequently, the available operational options aimed at facilitating the safe management of radioactive waste in a practicable manner, under standard compliance, are identified. The results of the study are used to build a technical guide for the actors in the radioactive waste management chain, oriented to the best application of radioactive waste management actions that comply with national standards and international recommendations.
