Rebeca: La opacidad y su despliegue. Entre el presente y el pasado de una escultura en el espacio urbano

Abstract

Esta tesis parte del supuesto de que Rebeca es un conjunto escultórico opaco, en tanto que muestra parcialmente sus singularidades. Las singularidades son una noción que delimita, acota y ciñe las cualidades del conjunto escultórico. El objetivo de esta tesis es señalar algunas de las singularidades que se adhirieron al despliegue de Rebeca en el Parque del Centenario en el marco de los festejos patrios de 1926. Para poder señalar las singularidades de Rebeca en su primer despliegue, esta tesis se propone articular el conjunto escultórico con documentos que registraron su inauguración como fotografías, artículos de prensa, mapas y contratos. La articulación de dichos documentos con Rebeca pone en evidencia parcialmente sus singularidades, lo cual permite atravesar parcialmente la opacidad que presenta la escultura en la actualidad.

Abstract: This thesis is based on the assumption that Rebecca is an opaque sculptural, in that it partially shows its singularities. The singularities are a notion that delimits the qualities of the sculptural. The objectiveof this thesis is to point out some of the singularities that adhered to the deployment of Rebeca in the Centennial Park in the context of the patriotic celebrations in 1926. In order to be able to point out the singularities of Rebeca in her first deployment, this thesis is proposesto articulate the sculpturrewith documents that registered its inauguration likephotographs, articles of press, maps and contracts. The articulation of these documents with Rebecca reveals their singularities, which allows partially crossing the opacity that the sculpture presents today.
