Abstract

El drama de un presidiario, Fabio, ahora en libertad, quien busca dar sentido a su vida y encontrar un futuro, recorriendo el río Magdalena desde su ciudad, Honda, en el departamento de Tolima, hasta la desembocadura en Bocas de Ceniza. Fabio trata de reconstruir los recuerdos de su padre arrastrado por una creciente del río. En los documentos atesorados en un viejo baúl, Fabio encontrará señales y rastros de algunos sueños no cumplido por su padre que lo arrastrarán a emprender su aventura. La historia del viaje mostrará descarnadamente la vida de los habitantes ribereños sumidos en una cultura de violencia política y social que arrasa con la vida para acaparar la tierra, llevándose también la vida del río que ahora más que sustento, arrastra muerte y esconde cuerpos. En parte es también la historia del río que ha sostenido por generaciones la vida, pero que también representa el olvido del Estado y la ausencia de respeto por lo que representa su historia y lo que significa su futuro, así como la historia de Fabio que pierde la esperanza por la vida que quizás no era necesario contar. The drama of a prisoner, Fabio, now free, who seeks to give meaning to his life and find a future, traveling the Magdalena River from his city, Honda, in the department of Tolima, to its mouth in Bocas de Ceniza. Fabio tries to reconstruct the memories of his father washed away by a rising river. In the documents stored in an old trunk, Fabio will find signs and traces of some dreams not fulfilled by his father that will drag him to start his adventure. The story of the trip will starkly show the life of the riverside inhabitants immersed in a culture of political and social violence that devastates life to monopolize the land, also taking the life of the river that now more than sustenance, drags death and hides bodies. In part it is also the story of the river that has sustained life for generations, but which also represents the neglect of the State and the lack of respect for what its history represents and what its future means, as well as the story of Fabio who lost the hope for life that perhaps it was not necessary to tell.
