Fachada libre. Variaciones en la obra de Le Corbusier

Abstract

Será propósito de esta investigación tratar de vislumbrar, de manera ordenada, determinar un proceso creativo argumentado en la obra de Le Corbusier, donde la fachada de ser, una envolvente lisa y plana adquiere profundidad y se convierte en espacio, que diluye los límites entre el interior y el exterior en su arquitectura. A través de la descripción y el análisis de cerca de una treintena de obras, mayormente relacionadas con el habitar y de carácter unifamiliar, se pretende escudriñar las características de la fachada, donde la estructura porticada en hormigón armado y el plano vertical del cerramiento, han determinado las variaciones del rostro, en la obra del Maestro. Ésta se apoyado en documentos, provenientes de la “Oeuvre Complete” del arquitecto, como también en dibujos propios. Y fotografías y documentos resultantes de visitas específicas realizadas y citas bibliográficas del propio arquitecto y de escritores que han estudiado su obra. Permitiendo establecer nexos y características comunes que derivaron en la concreción de cuatro capítulos y la identificación de tres grupos de proyectos generales que ordenen esta pesquisa y que caracterizan las variaciones de la fachada libre en la obra de Le Corbusier: Los principios ordenadores, la ventana, la fachada y la fachada como espacio. The purpose of this research will be to try to glimpse, in an orderly manner, determine a creative process argued in the work of Le Corbusier, where the façade of being, a smooth and flat envelope, acquires depth and becomes space, which dilutes the limits between the interior and exterior in its architecture. Through the description and close analysis of around thirty works, mostly related to living and of a single-family nature, the aim is to scrutinize the characteristics of the façade, where the reinforced concrete porticoed structure and the vertical plane of the enclosure have determined the variations of the face, in the work of the Master. This was supported by documents, coming from the architect's “Oeuvre Complete”, as well as his own drawings. And photographs and documents resulting from specific visits made and bibliographical citations from the architect himself and from writers who have studied his work. Allowing the establishment of links and common characteristics that led to the creation of four chapters and the identification of three groups of general projects that organize this research and that characterize the variations of the free façade in the work of Le Corbusier: The ordering principles, the window, the facade and the facade as space. Making it clear that in Le Corbusier they are the result of a conscious and systematic process for defining the face of his architecture.
