Resumen
Este trabajo, hace un seguimiento a la historia de la URSS, a sus momentos críticos y dificultades económicas; con miras a encontrar elementos que permitan explicar el final del sistema soviético. Es indudable que en los 1980s en la Unión Soviética existía la necesidad de cambios sociales y económicos; sin embargo las medidas adoptadas, se hicieron sin el suficiente estudio y examen de sus implicaciones, y como demuestra el análisis de su economía, la URSS tenía lo necesario en recursos físicos y humanos, en desarrollo científico y técnico, para hacer los ajustes que se requerían, sin debilitar la organización existente. En conclusión: no es la acumulación de problemas estructurales lo que conduce al desastre del socialismo soviético, más bien, es la desestabilización creada por la Perestroika, la que facilita la conversión al libre mercado./ Abstract. This research is intended to review several critical moments and economic challenges in the history of USSR, with the aim of determine some features that support our explanation of the soviet system disintegration. In 1980s Soviet Union the need for social and economic changes was undoubtedly, nonetheless, the implemented measures, were made omitting a proper examination on its consequences, and as is shown by the analysis of its economy, the USSR had the required material and human resources, and enough scientific and technical development, to accomplish the adjustments demanded, without undermine the prevailing organization. Concluding: it is not the accumulation of structural problems what motivates the termination of the Soviet socialism, but the turmoil created by the Perestroika, the one facilitates the conversion to free market.
