dc.description.abstract | El propósito de esta revisión es conocer y realizar una evaluación sobre la efectividad de la acupuntura en el manejo del síndrome del túnel del carpiano, ejecutada por un médico especialista en acupuntura en el manejo de la neuropatía por atrapamiento del nervio mediano a nivel de la muñeca; para esto se realizará la revisión de literatura disponible, se seleccionaran los estudios que reportaron una mejoría de los síntomas y de la función con el manejo de la acupuntura, en comparación con el tratamiento convencional no quirúrgico realizado desde la medicina occidental. El STC tiene una alta incidencia en la población cuya actividad laboral ejecuta movimientos repetitivos, específicamente en manos o muñecas (1). En la medicina occidental las pruebas de electrodiagnóstico (EMG) identifican el daño axonal, para elegir el tratamiento convencional o la descomprensión del nervio (2). Desde la visión de la Medicina Tradicional China, como sistema medico complejo, se realizan abordajes no solo el manejo de acupuntura con aguja, sino también se emplean técnicas como: electroacupuntura y acutomoterapia; diferentes estudios clínicos exponen la efectividad de estas terapias en el manejo del STC (Texto tomado de la fuente). | spa |
dc.description.abstract | The objetive of this review is to ascertain and assess the efficacy of acupuncture in the management of carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) by a physician with expertise in acupuncture for neuropathy resulting from median nerve entrapment at the wrist. To this end, a comprehensive review of the extant literature will be conducted, with a view to identifying studies that have demonstrated an improvement in symptoms and function following acupuncture management, in comparison with conventional non-surgical treatments typically employed in Western medicine. Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) has a high prevalence among individuals engaged in occupations that require repetitive hand and wrist movements (1). In Western medicine, electrodiagnostic tests (EMG) are used to identify axonal damage, which in turn informs the choice of conventional treatment or nerve decompression (2). From the perspective of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), a comprehensive medical system, the management of needle acupuncture is not the only approach utilized. Techniques such as electroacupuncture and acutomotherapy are also employed, with various clinical studies demonstrating the efficacy of these therapies in the management of CTS. | eng |
