The digital economy forces established companies to rethink the business models used and bring the Digital Transformation to a sustainable level to be competitive and focus on the customer. The literature reviewed, established that Digital Maturity Models are a powerful tool to achieve this process and several of them are available for large organizations, however, it was also determined that Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) have special characteristics, due to its limitations in size and resources, and there are few models that can be used in these companies. The purpose of this study is to explore existing digital maturity models and design a model that fits the conditions of telecommunications SMEs in the country. To achieve this purpose, a simple case study approach was used for convenience with qualitative methods to analyze a Colombian telecommunications SME. The findings suggest that digital dimensions and capabilities must be developed to achieve the process and that understanding the level of current digital maturity and the disposition of the SME, will establish the starting point and the expected status, according to its objectives. The results are integrated into a descriptive model of six dimensions and five levels of maturity that supports the management of telecommunications SMEs to develop a road map to face their transformation in a conscious and prioritized manner.spa
