It is estimated that perioperative cardiovascular events after noncardiac surgery occur in 3% of hospital admissions for surgery (1), these events represent a significant health burden. The present work seeks to describe the frequency of these events in a determined period of time in a level IV hospital in Colombia, a descriptive, retrospective, crosssectional study was carried out; Adult patients admitted electively for non-cardiac surgery during the year 2020 were included, a total of 132 patients were included, with a mean age of 50.8 years (SD 14.6), 66 patients (50%) female, the prevalence was 3%, with a total of 3 events, of which acute myocardial infarction and acute pulmonary edema were documented in 1 patient (0.76%) and acute pulmonary edema in 3 patients (2.3%) respectively. Cardiovascular events occurred exclusively in male patients (3 events, 100%), none of the patients presented intrahospital death and none had a stroke; all patients with cardiovascular events were hypertensive 3 patients (100%), the geographical origin was distributed as follows: Bogotá 124 patients (94%), other municipalities of Cundinamarca 7 patients (5.3%), Casanare 1 patient (0.7% ) It can be concluded that the frequency of major cardiovascular events in this study is similar to that previously reported, and that there is a possible association between cardiovascular risk factors and complicationseng
