Resumen
Los estudiantes de diferentes grados de escolaridad del colegio Cafam, en la ciudad de Bogotá, presentan dificultades al momento de resolver distintas ecuaciones. No obstante, estas dificultades se incrementan cuando los estudiantes de grado octavo resuelven ecuaciones que involucran números fraccionarios. Por ello y teniendo en cuenta las dificultades que presentan los estudiantes al solucionar este tipo de ecuaciones, se realizó un estudio exploratorio sobre las fracciones a través de la historia y las ecuaciones Diofánticas; a su vez, se diseñó y aplicó una secuencia didáctica que aborda las fracciones unitarias y las ecuaciones Diofánticas como una alternativa para la solución de problemas con ecuaciones que involucran números fraccionarios.
Abstract. The students of different grades of schooling of the Cafam School, in the city of Bogota, present difficulties when they solve different equations. However, these difficulties increase when eighth grade students solve operations involving fractional numbers. For this reason, and taking into account the difficulties presented by the students in solving this type of equations, an exploratory study about the fractions through the history and the Diophantan equations was made; at the same time, a didactic sequence that addresses unit fractions and Diophantine equations as an alternative for solving problems with equations involving fractional numbers was designed and applied.
