Objective: Determine the current status of research on the use of bee venom in acupuncture as a complementary therapy in the treatment of patients with osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Methodology: Scoping review of publications in ScienceDirect, Scopus, Cochrane Library, Biblioteca Virtual en Salud, PubMed and Scielo between the years 2014 – 2024, in English and Spanish languages. Results: Of 807 identified articles and one repository thesis, 11 articles met the eligibility criteria. The evidence for the use of bee venom in acupuncture in rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis can be supported by the regulatory effects on cytokines and inflammatory signaling pathways, however, studies in humans are limited and lack detailed information on the basic pharmacological treatment and diagnosis through Traditional Chinese Medicine. The effects with this therapy are dependent on the dose and time of administration, in addition to the patient's hypersensitivity. Conclusions: Preclinical evidence on the topic shows potential health benefits. Further research is needed to evaluate its effectiveness and safety in humans.eng
