Both biomedicine and Traditional, Complementary, and Integrative Medicines and Related Therapies (TCIM) provide tools to work in the area of health promotion, however, it should be noted that TCIM, which includes a group of both medical systems and of therapeutic methods, have a holistic or comprehensive approach and understanding of health and its determinants, which is why they can be an important support point in health promotion strategies. Objective: to describe the potential contributions of TCIMs to health promotion. Methodology: a narrative review of descriptive and analytical characteristics was carried out on indexed literature, non-indexed academic literature and gray literature. Results: Bibliometrically characterization of the available literature in databases on contributions of the TCIM in health promotion was achieved, where 25 indexed and 2 non-indexed articles were found. Conclusions: there are a great variety of practices described within the TCIM that provide potential tools for managing health promotion and that are related to the different components of health such as physical well-being, mental well-being and social well-being. within these the most described are Ayurvedic medicine, Traditional Chinese medicine and Yoga.eng
