Abstract: This research work aims to design and apply a methodological strategy that strengthens the students’ competence of solving problems by teaching linear equations systems using 2 x 2 based on daily learning problems in grade nine of the educational institution Federico Carrasquilla. In the development of this proposal, it involved two groups of the ninth grade of the Federico Carrasquilla School, in which the first group was called experimental group and the second one was a control group. In the experimental group, it was developed a didactic proposal that was designed for this process through the implementation of cooperative work and the use of the information and communication technologies (ICT). The same didactic proposal was carried on but, in this case, traditional methodologies were implemented by including the master class in the control group. To identify the necessary preconceptions for the solution of 2x2 linear equations systems, it was developed a diagnostic test (pretest), which served as the basis for defining the control group and the experimental group. To evaluate the results obtained in the two groups and found differences, a statistical analysis was performed. At the end of the process was the post-test to measure the level of appropriation of the knowledge. The application of the teaching strategy allowed to raise the academic level of the experimental group and reached a good appropriation of concepts about 2x2 lineal equations systems, evidence in the results obtained in the posttes
