Resumen
Abstract
This dissertation seeks to understand the uses and disputes of the music developed by the
Farc-Ep in the framework of the cultural dispute that took place between the guerrilla and
the Colombian government. The research methodology was the life story of Alejandra
Tellez who was part of the organization between 1998 and 2016 and formed the groups
Rebeldes del Sur, Rebeldía Oriental and Horizonte Fariano. The emergence of Fariano
music as a strategy of the Farc-Ep's cultural project and the organization's political
strategy played a central role in the symbolic war against the State. Therefore, this
research focuses mainly on the role of Fariano music in the dispute over the
representations and meanings of the organization, the construction of identities and the
contextual uses. The above, through several historical moments such as the Caguán
demilitarized zone, the Patriota Plan and the Havana peace dialogues. Likewise, the
theoretical corpus that sustains the analysis takes as references the contributions of Stuart
Hall, Richard Hoggartt, Lawrence Grossberg, George Yúdice, as well as other
contributions of Cultural Studies.
