Resumen
Abstract
This thesis aims to provide a qualitative-descriptive approach to the factors that determine the choice of informal employment on the island of San Andrés, by the economically active and legally established population on the island, who have voluntarily decided to be employed in informal activities. This, in order to dignify and exalt the activities that the informal workers of the island carry out. Likewise, informal voluntary employment is proposed as a production alternative, in the face of the progressive environmental destruction produced by the capitalist model and, as a means to achieve the harmonious coexistence of man-nature proposed by the indigenous vision of Sumak kawsay.
The foregoing is achieved by collecting the life stories of different informal workers on the island, whose collections of knowledge are representative, from their area or trade and, within the island's labor market.
The present work presents as results that an important part of the workers who are in the informal sector do so voluntarily, given that they perceive better conditions than those provided by the formal jobs offered to low-skilled personnel in hotels, restaurants and stores.
